Broadband provider lost the case. WORD!

I succeeded in my proceedings against B2 Bredband AB. The company is now to fulfil my claims for damage and lowered cost for the broadband connection. No big money, but big principal value.

The Swedish National Board for Consumer Complaints holds that that the wording "up to 24 Mbit/s" in the contract, must mean that the broad band capacity in any case shall be close to the maximum speed, and that the maximum speed actually shall be possible to reach at propitious conditions. The board regards that the service provided is defective, since the broadband capacity delivered is less than 15 Mbit/s, and the capacity agreed upon is "up to 24 Mbit/s".

B2 Bredband's argument, that the term "up to" aims at any speed between 0 Mbit/s and 24 Mbit/s, did not stand. Neither did the argument, that a disclaimer in the contract which limits responsibility for technical limitations, stand.

The contract between me and B2 Bredband AB provides that any disputes with regard to the contract shall be settled by the National Board for Consumer Complaints. The board's resolution is therefore legally binding.

Law and creativity

Ever experienced the satisfaction of rejecting a foul proposal? Law is often regarded as the boring down-side of creative enterprise. OK, It's not. And better: the more you know about it, the less you have to think about it. I frequently give lectures and inspirational talks on law in creative business, that give new thoughts and open new understandings. Give me a ring or drop me an e-mail if you are interested.

Economics and law for artists and curators

The book MU - Vägen till ett avtal ("Road to an agreement") which I have edited and co-written is a handbook for artists and curators in law and economics. The focus is directed to exhibitions. The book covers inter alia how to calculate the artist's fee, how to prepare for a negotiation and what to think of in terms of law and economy when planning an exhibition. It also gives an introduction to Swedish contract law in general and explains in detail the collective agreement for art exhibitions at governmental exhibition halls in Sweden. Part of the MU-campaign. Get it here (in Swedish).

The book "Rätt att vara vapenfri i ett förändrat försvar" (The Right of Conscientious Objection in a National Defence in Change) is the result of an investigation of the Swedish system for conscientious objection, which I carried out in early 2006, as appointed investigator for the Swedish Civilian National Service Council (Civilpliktsrådet). The book is in Swedish.
